FREE GENOTYPE TESTING WITH ANOTHER SICKLE CELL FOUNDATION FOR THE STEP UP NIGERIA PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS

Our aims and achievements:

  • To create awareness on the importance of genotype testing especially before marriage.
  • To counsel those with the sickle cell traits on management of its crisis.
  • To be able to reach out to the grass-root level and educate them on issues related to sickle cell.

  • We conducted free genotype testing for about 300 people at the step up Nigeria program.
  • People were enlightened on the importance of knowing their genotype.
  • The importance of Sickle cell awareness was emphasized.
  • People were educated on various sickle cell complications.
  • There was a special counseling period for people with the sickle cell traits on its management.
